El Ligero Interview

It's not very often that we get to speak to an International Wrestling Superstar, but this week saw The Mexican Sensation, El Ligero, take on TNA British Bootcamp Winner, Mark Andrews. The venue was Leeds' own Tidal Wrestling Championship and through his personal translator, we managed to get a short interview with him after the show......

What's your earliest memory of wrestling?
Watching the main event of WWF WrestleMania 8, Hogan vs Sid, on a tape that my dad had borrowed from my cousin, who was already a big wrestling fan. That was in 1992, and I was 8 years old.

Who were your inspiration(s) to become a wrestler?
When I was a child, Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage were my favourites. When I started my teens, I'd say Mick Foley and Spike Dudley, as I became a bit of a hardcore fan. From when I started taking wrestling seriously though, Shawn Michaels became a huge inspiration.

Lana Austin Interview

So, here at TWM, we always mention on our podcast and social media how good the UK Wrestling scene is, and we thought we would bring you the finest in UK talent by way of a short interview with some of the wrestlers on the circuit.

All the interviews we will be conducting are with current wrestlers that you can catch at your local promotions, which should be listed on our handy UK Promotions Map!

So without further ado - let's welcome our first interviewee - Lana Austin!

What's your earliest memory of wrestling?
My earliest memory of wrestling is watching the WWF with my dad and being so scared of The Undertaker, haha.

Who were your inspiration(s) to become a wrestler?
My inspirations have to be the Hardy Boyz and Lita. Also my big brother, Lee Austin, always pushed me to start training and kept pushing me when I was there. Another big inspiration who believed in me, made me believe in myself and always helped me to become better, is Tyson T-Bone, I will always be thankful for all the help he gave me.

TCW Tidal Championship Wrestling - Silent Nightmare

"Silent night.... Holy night..... Sleep in heavenly peace....."

Never could a set of lyrics be more wrong, definitely for this latest festive offering from Tidal Championship Wrestling! With a card that looked stronger than an Ox on paper, The Wrestling Mania and friends headed down to Leeds University Union for their monthly dose of local independant wrestling.

This was without a doubt the best show that Tidal have put on this year. The crowd took a while to warm up but after Liam Lazarus opened the show with a promo stating that the fun is over and he's serious about winning the title, the show was on.

Opening the card was El Ligero vs Mark Andrews, and for those who don't know El Ligero is 'The Mexican Sensation'. Coming to the ring in his trademark cape and horned luchador style mask, and Mark Andrews is the recent winner of TNA's British Bootcamp 2 (aired on Challenge TV and live tweeted by us throughout!) so the crowd knew then that they were in for a treat. The match was a great opener and featured some really impressive spots, and surprisingly it was Mexico that overcame Wales with a win for El Ligero. Arriba!
